What our bathroom sealant services cover
We remove and replace sealant around:
- Baths and bath panels
- Shower trays and shower enclosures
- Wet rooms
- Sinks, basins and vanity units
- Tiles and anywhere two bathroom surfaces meet
We seal brand-new bathrooms as well as resealing old ones, for homeowners, landlords and commercial customers. While we’re there, we can also reseal kitchen sinks and worktops.
When does bathroom sealant need replacing?
Sealant rarely fails overnight. These are the signs we’re usually called out for:
- Cracks or splits in the sealant
- Sealant peeling or pulling away from the bath, tray or wall
- Black mould inside the silicone that comes back however often you clean it
- Gaps, pinholes or missing sections
- Water getting past the seal when the bath or shower is used
If you spot any of these, act sooner rather than later. Water that gets behind a failed seal can damage the walls, floor or ceiling below. Our guide on when to replace bath and shower sealant goes into each sign in more detail.
How we reseal a bath or shower
Resealing properly takes more than running a new bead of silicone over the old one. Every job we do follows the same process.
1. We remove all of the old sealant
Every bit of the old mastic comes out. Any left behind stops the new sealant bonding, and any mould underneath stays trapped/
2. We clean and prepare the joint
The joint is cleaned, dried and prepared so the new sealant has a sound surface to grip. Rushed prep is where most sealant jobs go wrong, so this is where we take our time.
3. We check for movement
If a bath or shower tray moves when it’s used, the new seal gets stretched every time, and it will eventually split. We check for this before we start. When we reseal a bath, we fill it with water first so it’s sealed at its lowest point.
4. We apply new anti-fungal sealant
We use premium anti-fungal silicone, colour-matched to your bathroom at no extra cost. The sealant is included in every price we quote.
5. We leave it clean
We tidy up after ourselves and tell you exactly how long to leave the sealant before you use the bath or shower again.
What if resealing doesn’t stop the leak?
Most bath and shower leaks we see come down to failed sealant. When they don’t, we’ll tell you. Blocked drain channels on a shower tray, a tray that flexes, or failed grout can all let water out even with a perfect seal. Where a gap is too wide for silicone on its own, we can fit a sealant trim instead.
We don’t offer general plumbing. If the leak is coming from pipework, we’ll explain what we’ve found so you can call the right trade.
